Returning Student
Are you returning to Columbia Basin College after taking a break? Welcome back! We are glad that you have decided to return. We may need some updated information from you and you may need to complete a few items to ensure you're ready to get back on your educational path.
Follow these simple steps to get ready to return to CBC!

1. Reapply for admission
You only need to reapply once per academic year (summer through spring). This allows you to skip a quarter without needing to reapply, depending on when you last submitted your application.
Application processing times vary based on the quarter you are reapplying. To see when application processing begins, check the table at the bottom of this page.

If this does not apply to you, please submit the online admissions application to return to CBC winter quarter, which begins January 2025.
Once your application has been processed, you will receive an acceptance letter via email. This email will contain your unique student ID number and next steps.

3. Register for classes
At CBC we have multiple measures in place to ensure you continue in the right classes. Depending on what you've taken in the past, you may need to retest for math and/or English. You can also meet with a completion coach to talk about what classes to take during your first quarter back.
Because you've been away for a while, your original placement scores may have expired. If this is the case, depending on how many credits you have, you may need to retake the placement assessment.
If you are unsure if your test scores are still valid, you can login to your student account to view your test scores or contact the Assessment Center.
If you think you may have enough credits for placement purposes, we recommend meeting with a completion coach to go over your transcript and determine what courses you should be taking as you move forward at CBC!
Once you've determined what classes you're eligible to take your first quarter back, you'll be ready to register. Each quarter you'll be assigned a registration access time based on the number of credits you've earned at CBC. You can view your registration access time by logging into MyCBC. Registration can be as simple as a few clicks via Web Registration, but if you need help, you have options!
If you know exactly what classes you'd like to register for, Hawk Central can help you with the registration process in person.
If you're still having trouble deciding what classes to take, we recommend visiting Counseling and Advising to ensure you're choosing the best classes possible.

4. Get ready for school
Once you're registered for classes, you're almost ready for the quarter to start! Don't forget to pay for your classes before the tuition deadline and plan to buy textbooks. If you have questions or need help, we're here every step of the way!
Once you've registered for classes, you'll see charges on your student account for the tuition and fees associated with your classes. In order to keep your seat in the classes you've registered for, it's important to pay your tuition by the tuition deadline. You can always find the tuition deadline on our Academic Deadlines calendar.

Now that you've registered for classes and paid your tuition, you're ready to buy your textbooks! To find out what books you'll need for your classes, stop by the CBC Bookstore or visit the Bookstore website.
