Bredt is a Deputy Manager of the Project Lifecycle Division at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). She began her career at PNNL in 1993, and has contributed to the Lab as an engineer, technical advisor, and in project management.
Bredt is a first-generation college graduate who began her journey in higher education at Shasta College, a community college in Redding, CA. She transferred to UC Irvine’s chemistry program as a junior, and credits her community college experience as providing her with a strong educational foundation at a very affordable cost. She also appreciated the personal attention provided her by the professors at the community college level.
Bredt explains how her experience as a community college student inspires her in her new role as Trustee, saying, “Shasta College was valuable to me and I believe Columbia Basin College is an asset to the Tri-Cities by making education affordable, accessible and personal. I would like the opportunity to care for our community college, so others can have access to an affordable educational option.”
A deep commitment to community service has driven Bredt to work with a diverse collection of civic organizations, including: the Richland Public Library, Boy’s and Girl’s Club, the Tri-Cities Latino Community Network, and the Institute for Latino & Latina Leadership, Education, and Development. Bredt is a Board Member of the Tri-Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. She also contributed to the CBC Strategic Plan as a member of that plans Strategic Planning Committee.
