Library Services
The principal responsibility of the Columbia Basin College Library is to provide information resources and services that advance the mission of the College. The library develops and integrates resources in a variety of formats, utilizing technologies that provide broad access to information in support of the curriculum of the college. The library provides research and instructional services to foster students' ability to think critically about their information needs and successfully apply information tools and resources to meet them.
The CBC Library’s facilities and resources are intended for use by current CBC students, faculty and staff. Limited access is provided for other community visitors, dependent first upon student and employee needs.
CBC Librarians are available through the chat below Monday to Thursday from 8 am to 4 pm and Friday from 8 am to 12pm. Non-CBC librarians are available 24/7!
Can’t login? Email us at libraryFREECOLUMBIA_BASIN or call 509-542-4887.
Course Reserves
Course Reserves include books, articles and other items that instructors reserve for individual courses.
Most course reserve items are limited to in-library use only, but some may have one-day, three-day, or one-week loan period, depending on the instructors' directions. Our staff will be happy to help you determine the policy for individual items.
Textbooks
We try to have as many required textbooks as we can available for you. These are highly used items, so most of them can’t leave the library—but we do have free scanners!
Starting the third week of each quarter, the library is able to provide certain textbooks to all students. Check the availability of your textbooks at the front desk.
eReserves
Can't come to campus? Check library eReserves to see if chapters of your textbooks are available online.
If you cannot afford your textbooks, please reach out to your instructors who can work with you to find alternative solutions.
If you need financial assistance, please visit the Money for You page, the Well-Being Resource page and the CBC Foundation.
Computers and WiFi
Each CBC Library location has a computer lab available for current students. For the most recent information on available student technology, including wifi access areas, please see this Technology Services page.
Laptops
Laptops are available for current students to borrow for one month at a time and cannot be reserved in advance.
Need a laptop? Come see us at the Front Desk!
Student Printing
You have a $12 credit per quarter to use for printing anywhere it is available on campus, including the printers in the Library.
Black and white printing is three cents per page. Color printing is nine cents per page.
Need to print more copies? Purchase additional funds at the library’s front desk. (We’ll charge it to your MyCBC account.)
Scanning
Use our free book scanner that quickly allows you to scan book pages to a USB flash drive or your email.
In addition to our collections, as a CBC student, you have access to several other libraries within our region. Borrowing policies and other privileges vary by library. Ask our team for more information.
