Columbia Basin College will receive $1.76 million to pay for projects that will improve energy efficiency and save the community college tens of thousands of dollars each year.
The Washington Department of Commerce announced the award, one of eight grants being provided to higher education institutions across the state, early this afternoon. CBC received the second-highest amount after the $1.97 million going to Edmonds Community College.
The state's release did not indicate the specific projects that would be done at CBC but that new lighting, boilers, control systems and water saving toilets and faucets are among the types of work the grants will pay for.
