Columbia Basin College posted matching 10-2 wins against Everett, sweeping an NWAACC doubleheader Saturday in Pasco.
Ashlen
Ayers had a fine day at the plate, stealing two bases and driving in
two runs in the opener. The Kennewick graduate followed that up with two
more RBIs, including a solo home run, in the nightcap.
Brenda Rodriguez followed up Ayers’ home run with one of her own in Game 2.
“We
played great defense today. (Bailey) Walthers had a great game at
shortstop,” Hawks manager Adrian Ochoa said. “We’re seeing the ball well
and hitting it well. We’re winning some games. We’ve got some kinks to
work out, but as long as we keep working every day there’s no reason we
can’t reach our goal of the NWAACC playoffs.”
CBC will resume its
schedule today in Pasco with a doubleheader against Southwest Oregon.
Game 1 begins at 11 a.m., followed by Game 2 at 1 p.m.
