Emilly Kelly and Elizabeth Castro are this year's Columbia Basin College All-USA Academic All Stars. They will receive their awards and a $750 scholarship at a state ceremony in Olympia on March 21.
Emilly Kelly is graduating winter quarter with a 4.0 GPA. Emilly is a communications major who wants to document people of other countries through her writing and photography. She tutors English at CBC and says she'd "do it for nothing if they didn't pay me". Emilly is member of the CBC Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) honor society chapter and sings in the CBC Concert Choir.
Elizabeth Castro is a 17-year-old Running Start student who hold down a 3.99 GPA. She is majoring in international studies and her career goals revolve around research and outreach. Elizabeth has a passion for working with children and last summer traveled to Korea for that purpose. One of her passions is raising money for children's cancer research.
In addition to receiving a scholarship and becoming eligible for a national scholarship through PTK, Emilly and Elizabeth will have their picture taken with Governor Inslee during the March 21 reception in Olympia.
