Information Sessions
Students need to attend at least one Pre-Nursing Information Session prior to meeting with an advisor. At these sessions, you will have the opportunity to meet with the Nursing program director and CBC's pre-nursing counselors. Information is provided about required prerequisites, the application process, and how to progress through the nursing curriculum. These sessions are held monthly throughout the year.
If you need individual assistance after attending an information session, please call the Counseling Center at 509-542-5505 to make an appointment.

*In an effort to decrease barriers for Nursing students seeking to transfer to Nursing programs in Washington state, Washington Community and Technical College Nursing program directors are moving towards aligning prerequisite coursework. The goal of this alignment is for prerequisites to transfer from college to college, and college to university using the same common course numbering system. To assist with this alignment, the CBC Nursing program will be making the following changes for applicants who apply to the CBC Nursing program in winter 2013 or later:
- Removal of PSYC& 100 from the degree requirement (please note that CBC’s PSYC& 200 will continue to have a prerequisite of PSYC& 100)
- Addition of MATH& 146 (Statistics) to our degree requirement. We will no longer accept Math 106 or higher to meet our degree requirement. Math 106 is not a transferable math course.
Obtaining a 2.0 GPA requirement is required for major courses, major support courses, and general education requirements.
Entrance Requirements
To be eligible for the Columbia Basin College Nursing program, each of the following requirements must be met:
- Completed application to CBC (cost of application is $28.30).
- Submission of official transcripts from all schools the student has attended; please have these sent to Admissions, not the Nursing program. It is the student's responsibility to follow-up with CBC Admissions to assure that transcripts have arrived and have been evaluated.
- TEAS test on file (test fee is $48.50). Please see TEAS Testing Schedule.
- Submit Nursing program application to Admissions by the assigned due date the end of February of each year for the following fall class.
Students are admitted using an admissions index system, which includes the GPA of four selected courses, the TEAS examination score, and course completion scores from all pre-nursing courses. All applications are reviewed at the close of winter quarter. Students with the highest admissions index score will be admitted first. Admission to the Nursing program is limited, and completion of entrance requirements does not ensure admission to the program.
Once accepted into the Nursing program, students will need to submit the following:
- Required immunization records
- Current AHA CPR card for Healthcare Providers
- Satisfactory national criminal history background check
