CBC head coach Mike Baker enters his second year at the helm of the volleyball program at CBC.
During the last 20 years, Baker has been extensively involved in the sport, coaching competitive Junior Olympic (USA Volleyball) in the Tri-Cities community. He has also worked as an elite club coach, competing in tournaments throughout the Western United States. During the last 30 years he played at the collegiate club level, local leagues, as well as in the U.S. Open National Championships.
In addition to his coaching resume, Baker has been a long-time official, working contests for the Big West, GNAC, Northwest Conference, and Pac-10. Regardless of his role, Baker has worked as an advocate for the sport, promoting it wherever he has traveled.
“I believe my background and training as both a player and an official qualifies me to coach the CBC women’s volleyball team in a manner which will help the players become the best they can be. Players will learn to handle stressful, competitive situations where success and failure are measured by the smallest of margins. I believe that learning to handle these types of situations will help prepare the players for future matches, as well as life experiences.”
