WorkFirst is a Washington state program whose primary goal is to assist TANF recipients become self-sufficient. WorkFirst at CBC assists in this effort by providing education and training for parents to complete a certificate or degree or obtain specific job skills in order to get a job, keep a job, and move up the career ladder.
How Can WorkFirst Assist You?
If you are eligible for WorkFirst financial help, tuition, course fees, and textbooks will be covered for your first quarter until you are receiving Federal Financial Aid. WorkFirst can assist you with this process. WorkFirst provides one-on-one educational advising and career planning and preparation for the job search process. WorkFirst students have full access to WorkFirst instructors who provide individualized support in fully equipped WorkFirst labs.
What Types of Programs Can WorkFirst Tuition Assistance Pay for?
- Professional and technical courses or sets of courses
- Continuing education courses that are job related
- Professional/technical certificate/degree programs
- Basic skills classes leading to the GED
- Developmental education classes to gain college level skills in Math and English
- COMPASS test preparation in Math and English
- Integrated Basic Education Skills Training (IBEST)
