In the event of a major disaster and/or campus evacuation:
- Notification to the campus community will be dispatched using the Emergency Operations Center procedures outlined in the CBC Emergency Plan. If you are signed up for Emergency Notifications you will also receive an email and/or text message.
- Building deans and building representatives are responsible for forwarding emergency information and procedures to faculty, staff, and students.
- The use of deans or staff designees as campus runners may be the preferred way to get information from the EOC to campus classrooms and offices. Runners may be dispatched to inform students and employees of evacuation plans, emergency procedures, or general information.
- In the event of an emergency evacuation:
- Take all personal items (purses, backpacks, coats, sweaters, etc.) and immediately leave the building.
- Do NOT take the time to turn off computers, lights, or other electrical equipment.
- Follow the direction of campus security and local authorities.
- Listen to local media for information.
- Deans and designees will work with CBC Security and facility/safety staff to assist the evacuation of students and staff with disabilities. See Emergency Evacuation Guidelines for People with Disabilities.
- Evening/after hours: CBC Security will work with custodial and maintenance to establish the EOC in communication with the President and Sr. Vice President for Administration.
- Debriefing after the emergency event will be scheduled by the Emergency Operations Center.
