CBC’s Planetarium contains state-of-the art sound and visual equipment to provide viewers a high definition show in a 36-foot panoramic viewing dome. Viewers experience life-like high definition images and sound from a variety of shows offered in the planetarium movie library. Shows are intended to meet a variety of audience age groups, but some shows may be more appropriate for certain ages. Recommended ages are included in the description of each show. The Planetarium opened to the public in December of 2012, and is intended to help share the wonder of science, technology, and the universe. The Planetarium operates using the Spitz SciDome XD projection and dome system, utilizing a hemispherical projection surface with nanoseam construction that displays life-like, extra high definition images.
