Two new psychology courses, “Fundamentals of Psychological Research” and “Health Psychology,” will be offered this spring quarter at Columbia Basin College. The courses will be offered in a hybrid format as each class meets twice a week with remaining instruction delivered through use of the Internet.
“Fundamentals of Psychological Research,” or Psychology 209, covers psychological research methodology and techniques. Topics include the logic of hypothesis testing, experimental design, research strategies and techniques, fundamentals of scientific writing, evaluation of research literature in psychology, and ethical issues in psychological research. This class will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:20 a.m., and will be taught by Professor Carbary.
“Health Psychology,” or Psychology 270, provides an overview of the psychological, behavioral, and social factors in health and disease. Some topics include stress and wellness, the adoption of healthy behaviors, and the avoidance of maladaptive behaviors. This class will be offered on Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:20 a.m., and will be taught by Professor Stevens.
