If you are a victim of identity theft, first contact your local law enforcement agency, then call the Federal Trade Commission's Identity Theft Hotline at (877) IDTHEFT. The Federal Trade Commission website and the Washington State Office of the Attorney General website post step-by-step directions for reporting identity theft and protecting your credit history.
