Canvas and Angel are the learning management systems that most instructors use for online and hybrid classes. Additionally, many face-to-face classes use Angel for posting information, accepting assignments, quizzes, etc. We are transitioning to Canvas, and anticipate most classes will be using it by Fall 2013.
There are two ways to log on to either Canvas or Angel. The first is the same for both.
- You can log on to either through the My CBC Kiosk, using your Student ID (SID) and PIN.
- Your PIN is initially your birthday in the format mmddyy, however, you will be required to change it the first time you logon, so be sure to remember what you change it to.
- Choose either Angel or Canvas links, which are available from your MyCBC Home, the MyCBC page or the MyCBC fly-out menu. If you don't find your class in one, check out the other.
- This is the preferred method of logging on, although it is advised to bookmark the direct link (below) in case the CBC web site is inaccessible.
Or, directly to Angel or Canvas. The password will be different for the two systems.
- Directly to Angel, using your SID as your user ID and the first five letters of your last name (all lowercase) as your password. If your last name is shorter than five characters, use your whole last name. Leave out apostrophes or dashes or other symbols.
- Directly to Canvas, using your SID as your user ID and your MyCBC Kiosk PIN as your password.
- Note that it is a good idea to bookmark or remember the direct link to Canvas or Angel in case the CBC website is inaccessible for some reason.
- Once you get into Canvas, you should check your default e-mail address and get it corrected if it is not one you can access any longer. Contact eLearning if you no longer have access to the primary e-mail address.
- Although you can change your password in Canvas, you should leave it the same as your PIN, if you want to use the first method to logon. If you change your PIN online, it should update in Canvas, however, if staff change your PIN, it won't update in Canvas.
- If you don't have a PIN (most students do), try the first six characters of your last name, all lowercase. If your last name is less than six characters, repeat it until you get to six. For example, Jane Doe's password would be doedoe .
