A man who dedicated a large portion of his life to CBC was named the 2007-2008 CBC Outstanding Alumnus. Gary Culbert has been a student, faculty
member, dean and board member at CBC.
He is the first CBC student to graduate from the College and then come back
to be a member of the faculty. Culbert was employed at CBC for 36 years as a
faculty member in welding and then as the Dean for Vocational Education and
Apprenticeship. His father, Buzz Culbert, started the CBC Welding department in
1955. During the 1970s, the CBC Welding department ran 24/7 to prepare welders
for work at Hanford.
After retiring in 2000, Culbert was appointed by the Governor as a trustee for
CBC in 2004. He has been an important part of shaping Career and Technical
education at the College.
CBC honors Culbert and his nearly 50-year association
with the College.
